Brooklyn - Ramen Shack

One of the things I wanted to do during my trip to NYC,
was to head over to Brooklyn to
Keizo Shimamoto's Ramen Shack.

The Ramen Shack is currently at the Brooklyn Flea
Smorgasburg in Sunset Park's Industry City
on Saturday and Sundays.
11 am - 6 pm

I've been to flea markets and they were like someone
emptied out their garage.

The Brooklyn Flea Smorgasbord had more
antiques and lots of things that you
could spend hours looking through.

The Ramen Shack is on the food side of
the 2nd floor.

 Since I didn't get a chance to try Keizo's
ramen in Japan, this is the next best thing.

Of course I had no idea which one to order,
they all sound really good...

But knowing Keizo, whatever I end up ordering,
will be a great bowl of ramen or two.

See What Jay Eats...

 The Real Brooklyn Blend
with a tonkotsu base and served
with an egg.

The broth was amazing
and the noodles cooked just right.

Yup, the egg was cooked just the way I like it.

 Dirty Shoyu
which is a blackened niboshi

A nice hint of sardine flavor to it

 Shoyu Chuukasoba
A simple, but classic ramen.

Loved the dash of yuzu in this one.

New friends from Germany stopped by the Ramen Shack too.
From the Left, Chef Yosuke Sumida, Chef Mitsukazu Ando,
and filmmaker Francoise Desbois.
They were in town for the Food Film Festival.

Chefs Sumida and Ando are from Cocolo Ramen
in Berlin, Germany.

Classic Shio Chuukasoba
with wontons

Sometimes, the classic ones are the best!
The shio (salt) was very flavorful,
without being salty.

It's always nice to see Amy T. Shuster (@backyardbite),
this time in NYC.

We met up at the Ramen Shack with Keizo (@goramen)
and she was able try his ramen.

Yup, had to wear my green LA Ramen Burger shirt
to represent...
(BTW Keizo created the Original Ramen Burger)

One of the coveted seats at the bar.

The ramen here was amazing!
I can see why people will wait for a seat,
it's just that good.
Too bad he's only open on the weekends...

Can't wait to see what special ramen
Keizo is creating next...
