Smorgasburg Los Angeles - Week 6

Sunday, July 24th and Week 6 of Smorgasburg Los Angeles!
Waiting for the gates to open at 10 am, parking structure in the back.
First 2 Hours are FREE Parking.

It's a beautiful, but warm day at the Alameda Produce Market.

See What Jay Eats...
The Amorcito agua fresca from Todo Verde.
with Strawberry, Rose, Chia Seeds, and Maple Syrup.
One of the more popular aqua frescas and probably my favorite one.

It wasn't too busy today, so I got a chance to take a break and get something to eat. Stopped by to see Chef Ted Montoya of Calo Provisions had on his menu today.
Chef Ted suggested the Veg Tamale

 Chef working on my order.
This can be a vegan option without the cheese, it's all about the options.

The Veg "Soyrizo" Chili Tamale  with Panela cheese and scallions from Calo Provisions.

The Raspado "Orangria" was refreshing on a warm day.
Checkout the specials at Calo Provisions.

I won't be working at Week 7,

626 Night Market - July 22-24, 2016

It's that time again, the 626 Night Market on home turf at Santa Anita Park!
WAIT, Weren't we just here? Yes, July 4th weekend.
But who's counting, right?

July 22-24th Weekend in Arcadia!
See What Jay Eats...
The "Rainbow Roe~D" from Cup Town BBQ
With roe, pickled radish, and seaweed salad over rice. (and it wasn't a poke bowl)
Great on a hot day!

It's me, so you know I had to have tacos.
The pork belly tacos from Rakken Tacos.

It was Fryday, so had to have some Okamoto Kitchen's Japanese Fried Chicken or "Karaage Chicken" Classic Style.

Needing something to drink now, what should I have? THEN, the light bulb went off and I knew what I wanted to get!
A strawberry slush in a light bulb from Squidies.

Smorgasburg Los Angeles - Week 5

It's the 5th installment of Smorgasburg Los Angeles, July 17, 2016 (Happy 61st Anniversary Disneyland!)

Smorgasburg is a market for food, design, and vintage  items every Sunday in Downtown Los Angeles at the Alameda Produce Market.

Happy National Ice Cream Day!

Lots of people came out for ice cream
and had some special ice cream vendors too.

It was probably the busiest day yet...

It was nice seeing the Salt & Straw truck,
but look at this line...

See What Jay Eats...

The Ice Cream Bonanza
brought out a lot of people and many
of the vendors ran out of food.

I happened to visit my friends at Maury's Bagels.
Jason said he was out of fish,
so he put together an Avocado
Jalapeno Cheddar bagel
with cream cheese, tomato, and red onions.
Wow, it was a great combination!

Before we packed up and headed for home,
I was able to get a burrito from
Burritos La Palma.

It may not look like much,
can't judge a book by it's cover,
but it's a great burrito.

See you next week...

Hello Kitty Cafe Popup Container - Irvine

Got invited to the Hello Kitty Cafe Pop-up Container opening at the Irvine Spectrum.

The unit is truly a shipping container turned into a kitchen.
This is the first container kitchen in the food service industry in Orange County.

As you walk into the container to order, you'll see the menu on the above monitor.

 Inside the kitchen.
Having worked on a food truck, the container is just a bit wider than a food truck.

The Hello Kitty gift box  and bow water bottles.
