Smorgasburg Los Angeles - Week 8

Just off of Alameda Ave (at Bay St) in Downtown Los Angeles is the entrance,  to what the NY Times calls Smorgasburg (in Brooklyn) as "The Woodstock of Eating" But, in Los Angeles, we do it LA style...  Parking is FREE for the first 2 hours and admission is FREE. So there's no reason not to come each Sunday from 10 am - 5 pm. See What Jay Eats... Week 8 Sunday, August 7th  My first stop is usually at Todo Verde for one of their aqua frescas. Today I had the Amorcito, with strawberry, rose, chia seeds, and maple syrup.  Todo Verde also has smoothies too.  Lots of choices Almost too many... Next stop, Burritos La Palma It may not look like much, but these burritos are fantastic! Flour tortillas made each morning.  Stopped at Summer Crab Co for  their Singaporean Chili Crab Sandwich.  Of course I had to see my friends at Mama Musu...

Lunar New Year Celebration of Year of the Sheep! February 15, 2015 The Americana at Brand in Glendale. At precisely 2 pm, the gate opened to the green in the center of the Americana. My first stop was to pick up the traditional red envelope. Red envelopes are usually given by married to the  unmarried, most are children. Inside my red envelope, I received a Complimentary Pizza at Project Pie   Other gifts; complimentary crispy rice and spicy tuna at Katsuya, $1 Bills, and more. The Green at the Americana at Brand was decorated beautifully. Activities for the kids too. A calligraphy artist shares his talents and lucky attendees got to take one of his works of art home with them. Year of the Sheep Food and activity booths in and around the Green. The Last Night Market of the Season! The KTown Night Market   organizers presents the Halloween Food Fest October 25 & 26, 2014 My post of the first KTown Night Market in April 2014 HERE 6th Street was closed to traffic in KTown.  Over 70 vendors lined the street between Mariposa Ave and Berendo St.  The Ultra-Popular Original Ramen Burger was in attendance. They're so popular, they even had a line before the event opened! OK, so it was the Original Ramen Burger crew in their new red shirts... See What Jay Eats... Just a few things I had  I stopped by the Chilly Ribbons ' ski chalet to try their latest flavor, Red Bean. You can see the red bean pieces... Now ready to go with red beans, mochi, and almonds. It was sweet without being sweet and had a nice flavor.  Now that the night market season is over, I guess I'll have to get out to their store in Westwood. ...

My 2014 Food Favorites of the 626 Night Market Season

Now that the 2014  626 Night Market Season is Over, Here are My 2014 Food Favorites (Not in any order) The Surf & Turf Ramen Burger The Specialty Ramen Burger   at the July 626 Night Market As most of you know, I'm friends with the creator of the original  Ramen Burger ,  Keizo Shimamoto , and a fan of his creation.   I've tried each of the specialty  burgers and my favorite is the  Surf & Turf with an Angus beef patty  and a salmon patty  (this one had La Sriracha Macha too - see below).
