April is National Food Month I thought I'd share some  of my food favorites from the last year... I only picked a few, otherwise this list would  take months to complete. See What Jay Eats... Honolulu Restaurant: Tonkatsu Ginza Bairin

 I've known about this place for awhile now, with all of the other outstanding places to eat in Honolulu, this was further down on my list.  Until now... Scheduled dinner with @konaish and @onokinegrindz, my Sushi Izakaya Gaku  friends.  Unfortunately, @onokinegrindz was unavailable this night, but we got to have one last meal at Downtown at HiSAM (Hawaii State Art Museum). Tonkatsu Ginza Bairin Beach Walk Waikiki In Japan, Tonkatsu Ginza Bairin (Est. 1927) was the first Tonkatsu restaurant in Ginza (one of the most luxurious shopping districts in the world and very upscale). They were the first to offer the now popular "Bite-Size Katsu", "Tonkatsu Sauce" and the "Katsu Sandwich".   See What Jay Eats... Beef Takaki Salad (Seared Beef Salad) Not much of a dressing tho... Comes to America! Kimukatsu Opened in Waikiki Kimukatsu is a famous pork cutlet restaurant in Japan and opened in Hawaii. They're known for their 25 layered select pork cutlet. 25 Layers of sliced pork breaded and fried See What Jay Eats... Shiokara Daikon Salad Potato Salad Japanese style with bacon YES, bacon... We opted for the sampler platter 5 out of the 6 tonkatsu options From the bottom left corner (clockwise) 1. Nanban: Original with sweet and sour sauce, topped with their tartar sauce 2. Original: Plain 3. Cheese: Cheese inside the original 4. Demi-Glace: Original topped with Demi-Glace sauce 5. Okonomiyaki: Original topped with Okonomiyaki sauce, Japanese mayo, and bonito flakes Missing: The Black Pepper (It didn't sound appealing...)
