Mo-Mo Paradise - Rowland Heights

Image
Mo-Mo Paradise in Rowland Heights is opening on April 1st! (No joke)  It's an all-you-can-eat restaurant specializing in shabu shabu/sukiyaki from Japan. In fact, this is their first U.S. location and I got a preview.  Shabu Shabu and Sukiyaki are similar, as they're a one pot entree that's cooked table side. Since this is an all-you-can-eat, (Dinner $27.95) you select your meat. And then your dining adventure begins  My first stop was the Farmer's Market to select my vegetables, rice, and other condiments. The Farmer's Market will have about 20 seasonal vegetables.  Don't forget your condiments. I picked up scallions and red ginger for my sauces. Next stop...  The Drink Garden has natural flavored sodas, teas, milk teas, boba, jellies, etc. How many places have unlimited boba milk tea? By the time I got back to the table  Our pot was on the burn...

Buccumi Pizzeria & Raw Bar in Rowland Heights

Image
The restaurant has closed on October 30, 2016. IMO, right concept, wrong location. I'm saddened by their closing, it was really good. The second week in January is National Pizza Week, thought it was fitting to celebrate at the new Buccumi Pizzeria & Raw Bar in Rowland Heights. Buccumi Pizzeria is from the same people as Mokkoji  (hot pot) in Arcadia. Happy National Pizza Week! Pork Belly & Guanciale Pizza with chili dressing, romaine, mozzarella,  Calabrian pepper, and roasted garlic. One of the many speciality pizzas at Buccumi I was invited to sample their new menu, so let the tasting begin! See What Jay Eats... Photo by Kristie Hang  You'll see the Raw Bar as you walk in. A fried 'Fanny Bay' oyster served with a remoulade  Bresaola Carpaccio with arugula, truffle oil, parmesan, and balsamic reduction. I could have eaten two orders of these... ...

Have Your Cake and Eat Cake too...

Image
Eat Cake Cafe just opened this week, Doreen Fang and I happened to stop in and try some of their tasty cakes. All of their cakes are made from rice flour, meaning GLUTEN-FREE! Their cakes are light and flavorful but not too sweet, the way that I like them. We just happened to select their most popular cakes: Mango Cake A must try... Green Tea Cake Great Selection of Cakes And a difficult decision to make... Whole Cakes too And GLUTEN-FREE! They also have selection of baked goods, made with bread rice flour. Here's one of my favorites: A freshly baked Green Bean bun $1.50 Eat Cake Cafe is highly recommended and I'll be back to enjoy more goodies... Eat Cake Cafe 19705 E.
