Okinawa Raw Sugar Sea Salt Nitro Latte (New) - SpireWorks®

Image
If you follow me, you know I like the new SpireWorks ®  first store in Westwood. Read my Westwood SpireWorks® post HERE Now that their Eagle Rock location has opened, (Grand Opening on January 24, 2017) this one is a lot closer to me. Which means,  I can come in just for one of my favorites, Nitro Brew Coffee. What's Nitro Brewed Coffee? It's coffee that has been infused with nitrogen gas. Nitro brewed coffee is creamier and a richer  taste.   IMO, the acidity is lower and no need to add cream (if you like it that way). Sonny's Hideaway - Highland Park

Image
Just a few minutes Northeast of Downtown Los Angeles is the historic Eagle Rock neighborhood, home to  Occidental College, where President Barack Obama, Academy Award winning actor and filmmaker Ben Affleck, and actor Luke Wilson attended. Just South of Occidental College, there's a hidden neighborhood off the beaten path on York Blvd in Highland Park.  Notables on this street are (just to name a few):  Cafe de Leche (iced horchata), Scoops (brown bread ice cream), Donut Friend (create your own donut), Galcos Old World Grocery (hard to find, old time soda pop & candy), and Maximiliano (Italian).  Another reason to come to Highland Park is Sonny's Hideaway. From the outside, this nondescript green colored building with a small sign "Sonny's Hideaway" as you walk up to the red door, you'd never guess this was waiting inside. I was invited to this hideaway to taste their Summer Menu But first, let's head over to the bar and see ...

The Oinkster Hollywood

Image
I've been to The Oinkster in Eagle Rock, just North of Downtown.  I've had a couple of burgers and also their Royale, a 1/3 lb hamburger patty with bacon, chili, and pastrami, served with dill pickles, onions, tomato, lettuce, and Thousand Island dressing.  It was a great burger! I was fortunate to be invited to the opening of their 2nd location in Hollywood.  When I saw the invitation, I thought this address seem so familiar.  I knew exactly where it's located on Vine, just North of Melrose.  Oh that's right, I had worked at this restaurant before.  I was brought in to help the prior tenant get the restaurant open many years ago. As I walked into the remodeled restaurant, it was very open with a lot of light and an expanded outdoor patio.  It's funny to see this former dark sit down restaurant that now has lots of light and fitted with TV monitors.  This space turned out to be a really nice fast casual place with a very large parking ...
