Market Milkshake Monday at Plan Check Kitchen

Image
When is a milkshake not just a milkshake? When it's a Monday at Plan Check Kitchen! Each Sunday, the chef goes out to a local farmer's market to select a special flavor for Monday's special milkshake.  Along with other foodies, I got to sample the three milkshakes for this week's Market Milkshake Monday. It was the perfect tasting size, without being too much. See What Jay Eats...  This week's flavors: Strawberry & Rose, topped with rose sugar and a rose petal. Vanilla Bean Chocolate My favorite... Each milkshake had that old skool classic flavor, which I loved, but one of them stood out just a bit.  Strawberry & Rose Maybe it was the rose sugar on the top, but you could taste the freshness of the local strawberry with the rose.  These are the full size milkshakes. $8 Each Monday, they'll have Vanilla Bean, Chocolate, and a special flavor selected at a local f...

The NEW Monchie Bar by Onch Movement

Image
I got to sample the New chocolate bar from celeb designer and artist, Onch of Onch Movement .  Some of you may know him from designing wearable art and working with clients such as Kate Moss, Kim Kardashian, and Nicki Minaj. Introducing Onch Movement's Monchie Bar A white chocolate bar with gummy bears, sour patch kids, and some fruity pepples. Onch designed the blinged out wrapper too. The Monchie Bar (Front and back of the box) Overall, it had texture, color, and chewy pieces. I'm not a white chocolate fan, but it was colorful and whimsical. IMO, I think it needed more crunchies  to balance it out all of the chewy pieces. My suggestion is to add in some rice  krispies. You can order the Monchie Bar online HERE OR On the shelf  at Sweet! Candy Shop (Hollywood and Highland) Sweet! Candy Shop Hollywood and Highland 6801 Hollywood Blvd. Los Angeles, CA 90018 (21...

Luminasia and the LA County Fair 2014

Image
Growing up, my family would visit the LA County Fair just as the  new school year would begin each September.   Photo Courtesy of LACF Besides the rides, entertainment, and of course food,  we would see the new exhibits the fair would have each year. This year, Luminasia is a new nighttime attraction. It's a larger-than-life Chinese lantern display, which is an ancient art form of lantern making. At the LA County Fair   Media Preview to see Luminasia and sample the new fair food for 2014. Heading up the Luminasia hill, the gateway is impressive. See What Jay Eats... Funnel Cake Sausage Dog with syrup from Juicy's It reminded me of breakfast, tasty sausage.  One of my favorites were the Giant Pandas and they were GIANT! Anaheim Packing House

Image
On our way to a Chef Battle in Costa Mesa, we made a detour to check out the fairly new Anaheim Packing House, opened on May 31, 2014. A beautiful area just outside of the East door Only problem...too many good places to try Unique spaces just downstairs from the parking lot So, what is the Anaheim Packing House? I don't think I could say it any better... A very cool, unique space that isn't a food court or mall, but a casual place filled with food vendors. Upstairs at the Hammer Workshop and Bar There's additional seating outside on the South side, near Orange Tei, unique seating on two railroad flatbed cars. The line at Pop Bar caught my eye and it looked really good too.  Just don't call it a popsicle! First choose the flavor you want, including sorbet. I hate too many good choices  Next, you have a choice  of dippings and toppings. You can have a full dip, ...
