Today is FRYDAY! - June 10th

Yes, today is FRYDAY! In my opinion, there is one fried food that is very hard to find these days. Tempura is a dying art and not many places know how to do it the old skool way. When I was growing up, restaurants did a great job, nice and crispy. So, I'm happy when I find that does it crispy and not greasy. Tempura Udon Sanuki No Sato Sanuki No Sato is a place that does a good job with tempura, the udon ain't bad either. On this day, I celebrated with a bowl of udon. Beef Udon Shin-Sen-Gumi's Tonsyo Udon Gardena Yesterday's lunch at Pacific Square's Marukai Market... Tempura secret, using very cold water and potato starch. Do not over mix it and keep it cold... The First Friday in June is National Donut Day! If you've read my posts before, then you know I like Frydays... Mini Donuts Sparky's Donuts City Walk - Universal City Met up with some friends at City Walk for lunch today, it always nice to catch up with old friends. But after lunch, I wanted something sweet. I stopped in Sparky's to checkout the PEZ dispensers and remembered that they make their own mini donuts, made to order and dusted in cinnamon sugar. I picked up a few PEZ dispensers and some mini donuts for the trip home. 6 Mini Donuts $3.00 Cinnamon Sugar It was a nice way to celebrate National Donut Day as the donuts came right out of the fryer... By the way...I got a BUZZ today! Happy National Donut Day! Photos by Jay Terauchi (c) Kahuna of the Kitchen
