Now that the 2014  626 Night Market Season is Over, Here are My 2014 Food Favorites (Not in any order) The Surf & Turf Ramen Burger The Specialty Ramen Burger   at the July 626 Night Market As most of you know, I'm friends with the creator of the original  Ramen Burger ,  Keizo Shimamoto , and a fan of his creation.   I've tried each of the specialty  burgers and my favorite is the  Surf & Turf with an Angus beef patty  and a salmon patty  (this one had La Sriracha Macha too - see below). I didn't think I would have a recap post of this inaugural  DTLA Night Market.   Although I was in attendance, let me explain why... Back in February, journalist and foodie, Kristie Hang , introduc ed me to the brother and sister team of Mama Musubi .  I've been a fan after having their 24 Hour Pork Belly musubi at one of last year's 626 Night Markets at Santa Anita Park. With Mama Musubi 's Carol and Phillip Kwan We hit it off and discussed a menu idea to collaborate on.  They invited me into their kitchen and we came up with a poke idea.  Mama Musubi uses great products and you can taste the quality in their musubis, so we knew the poke had to be just as good as the rest of their menu. It's Night Market Season Again! With the popularity of Night Markets in Asia, we're fortunate to have some good ones in Southern California. It's a great place to try all kinds of food, entertainment, and shopping All in One Place!  So much to see and do at a Night Market. The best thing, it's street food and most prices are between $3 - $8. (items such as lobster are at a higher price) Here's my Night Market  Survival Guide Just some helpful hints... 1.  Want some good stuff to eat? Plan to arrive Early. Once the sun sets, you can expect lines getting into the parking lot AND lines getting into the event grounds.  Hence the name Night Market. Once inside, be prepared to stand in line for one of the more popular vendors. If you want to try something popular, like the Original Ramen Burger , plan on waiting.
