Hangover Rx and Medicine Man, both are non-alcoholic. Hangover Rx with pineapple, orange, honey, and coconut water. Medicine Man triple-brewed black tea, blueberry, pomegranate, honey, and sea buckthorn.   See What Jay Eats... New Spring 2017 Menu Items Torched Avocado (vegetarian) We started out the evening with this dish, with cucumber noodle, mushroom, snap pea, radish, sesame, and turmeric ponzu. True Food Kitchen - Pasadena

Image
About 5 years ago, I went to the True Food Kitchen in Santa Monica for dinner. Had a great time, the menu had a lot of options, and the food was good. But I don't live (or have projects) on that side of town now... Since my first visit, the menu has changed a bit (for the better) See my first visit HERE Hearing of a healthy restaurant opening in Pasadena, I wasn't thinking it would be  True Food Kitchen , but am glad it's them. It's been years and I was invited to the  Pasadena preview. The Preview for invited guests was held the weekend before the opening.  See What Jay Eats... Started with the Health-Ade Kombucha and added cranberry. Other refreshers I would suggest is the Medicine Man a triple-brewed black tea, cranberry, pomegranate, honey, and sea buckthorn. Charred Cauliflower with harissa tahini, medjool date, dill, mint, and pistachio  (vegan and gluten-free) Thi...

Petitpot Now Available in So Cal

Image
I love getting packages, especially when it's new food items to try.  It must be something French... Hence the "Bonjour" reference  And Yummm! It's a sampler  of pot de creme from Petitpot . Without going through all of the details, it's a type of custard. The lids made it easy to identify.  On National Vanilla Pudding Day, this is what I'm celebrating with... You can see the specks of Madagascar vanilla beans.  See What Jay Eats... Yes, we had a Petit Pot tasting. I had the pleasure of a pastry chef joining  me in the tasting. Great packaging in re-usable glass jars. They're all gluten-free and certified organic by CCOF (California Certified Organic Farmers) The Dark Chocolate was really good and one of my favorites. Made with dark Belgian chocolate, 70% cacao. Had a nice dark chocolate finish to it. Something that was a nice surprise for a...

Kaya Street Kitchen - Los Angeles

Image
If you've been down Fairfax Ave, just around the corner from  Benito's Taco Shop on Beverly and across the street from CBS Television City, you've probably seen this store front, I know I have. It's a unique combination of Southeast Asian  flavors;  specifically Indonesian, Singaporean, and  Malaysian.   See What Jay Eats... The restaurant is fast casual with a Chipotle-style line, which gives you the ability to select what looks good. I've been to a couple of events where Kaya Street Kitchen had served their dishes and had sampled their food. Now was my chance to try their menu. I had a hard time selecting, cause everything looked good. The options are bowl, salad, tacos, or burritos. I selected a bowl and wanted to try the base of green tea noodles and greens. Next, select a protein. This was the hard part for me, everything sounded great. I did go with the shrimp and pork meatballs and the M...
