Stokes Purple® Wave Pie by Lauren Ko

Getting stoked for the holidays
can be delicious!

I was invited to a Frieda’s
Specialty Produce event,
featuring cookbook author, Lauren Ko.

Her cookbook “Pieometry”
is a wonderful book of pie recipes
and techniques that even a baking novice
like me can do to make incredible
looking pies to impress my friends
and family.

But First, a little bit about Frieda’s…

I’m familiar that Frieda’s is a specialty produce  company, but I didn’t know that Frieda was the
first to introduce Chinese Gooseberry to the U.S.
in 1962.
 (before my time)

After changing the name to Kiwifruit,
the item took off!
(Did you know?  I didn’t…)

Frieda introduced other exotic items,
maybe I’ll do a video at a later time.

Frieda’s Specialty Produce
is a second generation, female owned,
family business in Southern California.

But tonight, it’s all about the
Stokes Purple® Sweet Potato.

Grown in California,
this is a denser sweet potato
with good flavor.

Just look for the
Stokes Purple® Sweet Potato label

Lauren taught us baking tips and
how to put together this beautiful pie.

Lauren’ pie

I hope mine looks, at least, close to this…

After Lauren’s demonstration,
it was my turn.

Even in cooking school,
I never really enjoyed baking.

Although my mom is the baker in
our family, I think my nieces
have picked that up from her.
OR maybe my brother-in-law,
he’s pretty talented in the kitchen too.

My Pie

Verdict???

Don’t believe me?

Just in case I needed proof,
not bad if I say do myself…

But, credit goes to Lauren’s instructions and OK,
maybe my years of knife experience. lol

Now, I can’t wait to finish baking it at home.

After our pies were finished,
Frieda’s Specialty Produce
invited us to grab a bag and take
home some of their specialty fruits.

Yellow Dragon Fruit

I’ve never had a Yellow one before…

I can’t wait to share this cookbook with
my nieces, as they love to bake.

Wouldn’t this look awesome
on your holiday table?

Added Bonus!

Frieda’s Specialty Produce
is allowing me to share this recipe
so you too can make this pie
at home for your friends and family.

Happy Holidays!
